Tangible metaphors


Active Forms should be understood as tangible metaphors representing a system or a service. For example, one of the concept we have developed is one of an Active Form as an energy consumption monitor in the home. The appearance and shape of the device is an indication of how efficient energy consumption is in the house. Another one is a water fountain in a retirement home that helps elderly keep hydrating along the day.

Active Form concepts are useufl in comping up with new ideas and testing what Active Forms are. They alo let us test different interaction implementations. Finally they are useful in investigating metaphorical representations. All this, while bearing in mind that the Active Forms are tangible usr interfaces and also objects that are present in the daily scenery of their users.
